What is motor oil made of?
Lubricants are a blend of base oils and additives. These are carefully selected and properly blended to allow the oil to provide maximum protection for your engine.
Is synthetic oil really better than mineral oil?
In a nutshell, yes. It’s that simple. Synthetic oils provide better protection than the best conventional mineral-based oils, especially at extreme temperatures.
What does SAE Viscosity Grade mean?
It consists of a number, then the letter W (which stands for winter), and finally another number. The number preceding the letter W indicates the viscosity at low temperatures. The number following the W represents the viscosity at high temperatures: the higher the viscosity, the higher the hot temperature.
What do SAPS levels mean?
The SAPS level defines the proportion of sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur in motor oils.
How long does the oil last?
The standard shelf life for small containers is five years, provided it is sealed, stored in a dry place at temperatures between +5°C and +30°C, and not exposed to direct sunlight.
Does the color of the oil say anything about its quality?
The color of a motor oil doesn’t tell you anything about its quality or age. Chemical additives override the actual color (amber) of the oil, making it appear darker, even when it’s new.
